I enjoy visiting Scholastic's website for ideas for the classroom but also to see what they're recommending parents.  I read an article about the benefits of reading to your children.  For SFA, we have the students read to themselves, aloud to siblings, or to you.  The article outlined several benefits of parents reading aloud to their children.  You are able to model what fluent reading sounds like, you can share your ideas about a story, and are able to have constructive conversations that dig deeper into a topic.  Scholastic also recommended several books to read with your families. Check it out and start reading to your kids for an enjoyable nightly activity!
