Testing and other important news

Greetings! We are finishing up our second week of testing and we feel it was successful! The kids did wonderful and the teachers were organized and ready to go! We continue to have testing next week for 4th grade so please make sure your kids are getting a nutritious breakfast and good night's sleep.

March is a busy month so I wanted to post all the activities so you can put them on your calendar!

3/11 Spring School Pictures and Group Pictures
3/14 FunFest PTA, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
3/20 Late Arrival, School starts at 10:15 a.m.
      End of third grading period
3/26 Spring Music Program 6:30-7:30 p.m.
3/27 Report cards go home
3/30 Conference Exchange Day, no school
3/31 Spring Break, no school

I enjoy visiting Scholastic's website for ideas for the classroom but also to see what they're recommending parents.  I read an article about the benefits of reading to your children.  For SFA, we have the students read to themselves, aloud to siblings, or to you.  The article outlined several benefits of parents reading aloud to their children.  You are able to model what fluent reading sounds like, you can share your ideas about a story, and are able to have constructive conversations that dig deeper into a topic.  Scholastic also recommended several books to read with your families. Check it out and start reading to your kids for an enjoyable nightly activity!
